Urgent Appeal from Harrison’s Fund. Help us keep our vulnerable kids safe.
Covid-19 has already had an impact on all of us in some way. But for boys with Duchenne, the threat of this virus is even more profound and scary. Not only in the present moment, but as fundraising events and campaigns are being postponed or cancelled, their futures become more uncertain as we struggle to continue funding vital research.
Over the next few months, Harrison’s Fund estimates that we’ll be down by approximately £20,000 as individuals who were due to take part in the Brighton Marathon, our successful annual Brunch campaign or RideLondon will no longer be doing so over the Spring/Summer and possibly may not do them at all.
The warmer months are usually our most successful for fundraising when we see hundreds of you getting together to help us in our mission to beat Duchenne. With traditional fundraising halted for now, we’re asking for your help to make sure that we don’t have to postpone any of our research investments.
Work like Dr Keith Foster’s groundbreaking research to radically enhance the delivery and efficacy of RNA-targeting anti-sense oligonucleotide based genetic medicines for Duchenne.
We know the target we’ve set is punchy, but that’s how we will protect our kids from an uncertain future – by fighting for them all the way.
We know you’re all having to make changes and plan for these uncertain times so really do appreciate whatever you can give.
Alex Smith, Harrison and all the children with Duchenne.
