My Story

Harrison's Fund, founded in 2012 by Alex and Donna Smith in honour of their son Harrison. Currently through the delivery of our Project Chrysalis grants we're here as the first Duchenne Mental Health Charity. These grants will be a lifeline for families who have received a Duchenne diagnosis and find themselves lost in the maze of healthcare bureaucracy. With NHS wait times stretching beyond a year, we're stepping in to bridge the gap between diagnosis and accessible support. Collaborating with top neuromuscular hospitals across the UK and specialists in neuromuscular diseases, we aim to extend a helping hand to families nationwide. Our pilot study feedback indicated that the priority for funding should be with newly diagnosed parents and those facing bereavement and end-of-life. Chrysalis will start there and will expand as funding and scope allow and our provision grows. We will move as fast as we can. This is just the start of our aim to bridge the gap between
